Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement on a multiphase ceasefire that commits them to end the war in Gaza, President Biden and Qatar's prime minister announced separately on Wednesday.

"This deal will halt the fighting in Gaza, surge much needed-humanitarian assistance to Palestinian civilians, and reunite the hostages with their families after more than 15 months in captivity," Biden said. He said it was the same as a proposal he made in May 2024, which was endorsed by the United Nations Security Council.

Neither Israel nor Hamas immediately confirmed the deal, but officials close to the negotiations told NPR that both sides have reached a tentative ceasefire intended to end more than 15 months of the heaviest fighting ever between the two sides.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said there remained "several unresolved points," but hoped "the details will be finalized tonight."

The deal comes after weeks of intensive rounds of indirect negotiations in the Qatari capital Doha between Israel and Hamas, mediated by facilitators from the U.S., Egypt and Qatar. In an unusual twist, envoys from both President Biden's administration and President-elect Donald Trump's team were also there, pressuring the sides to close a deal.

The ceasefire is due to start on Sunday, according to Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. Several technical details about the agreement remain unclear, and it will require formal ratification by Israel's cabinet before it can take effect. Israel's President Isaac Herzog called on "the cabinet and the government of Israel to accept and approve it when presented," saying, "At great cost in blood, through enormous security, diplomatic, and societal efforts, we have created a moment of opportunity. We must seize it."

Mixed feelings. The energy was cool and great and seemed focused on the war and how fucked the past legislative session has been. I attended a few booths, including one from a cool young guy and his friends starting their own "party". It's always cool to see the young men and women be so passionate and...creative. I let them lecture me as if I was a brain dead idiot for 10 minutes, took their flier and donated 10 bucks.

I was having fun.

Then I saw a group with clearly antisemitic signs. Not anit Isreal or Zionism. Straight up antisemitic.

One sign had the Star of David dripping in blood. Another had a caracture of a Jewish elderly man looking menacing with a giant nose, with words under it i didn't get close enough to read. One had the star of David on an American flag where our state stars would be.

This disturbed me greatly, so I left. It reminded me of the saying that came from Charlottesville. "If you march with Nazis you are a Nazi".

That this group was there and seemed welcomed was...well...left me feeling weird. I wont be attending another.

The GOP has factions wanting to address sanctuary cities and proof of citizenship to register to vote.

The Dems have their list as well and some discord between the House and Senate. The body cam issue already seems to be resolved leaving masks, roaming bands and administrative warrants as key demands.

This will almost certainly go beyond 2 weeks...........

My initial reaction to this order was "BS". After much meditation and contemplation, now I'm not so sure. If some very pregnant woman enters the US illegally and then gives birth while an illegal? Not sure I disagree with denying citizenship. I guess it hinges, for me, on what a "lawful permanent resident" is. And what wiggle room there might be. I read a while back about a decades-long US resident who was detained for some decades-old infraction. I believe Trump's EO does not seek retroactive application. That is good. Imagine if they deport(ed) this guy. then determined his kids (and thus their kids) are no longer citizens and deport them? To where? A little extreme example, but again, moot if there isn't retroactivity.

Anyway, how about no immediate citizenship, but it could be granted later if Mom or Dad become citizens or lawful residents? I could probably buy into that. Because the immigration courts have so much free time........ 😏

An Oracle spokesperson declined to comment on the layoffs.

The cuts are the latest example of Big Tech companies reducing head count. In January, Amazon said it would slash about 16,000 corporate roles, months after cutting 14,000 employees. Last week, Meta began laying off hundreds of employees, following several years of cuts that resulted in thousands of roles being axed.

Oracle employed around 162,000 full-time employees as of May 2025, according to its most recent 10-K filing. According to LinkedIn posts from laid-off employees, the cuts affected staff across Oracle Health, Sales, Cloud, Customer Success, and NetSuite.

The Orange one and his minions can't seem to go a day without spouting some shit publicly. What I really hate are things like yesterday, when Vance called Zelensky a liar (over Twitter, not to his face). WTF is that shit doing on the public airwaves? Of course, it required a public reaction from Zelensky.

This and the constant dredging up of Biden, Obama, even the Clintons, and blaming and accusing them for everything. Now Mueller (RIP).

And, Trump seems to think his job includes opining and meddling in everything. And thinking that he has the power to do anything he feels like doing that day. Sports events (ex: Army-Navy game), non-political public figures, etc. If I go one day without seeing him blast away at something or someone that has nothing to do with his job, I'll probably die from shock.

Dems aren't all that much better, although in their defense they are usually responding to some Orange spew. Which they shouldn't. Just let the shit lay and go away.

While the proliferation of social media has horribly exacerbated this mess, never before has it been like this. Go try to govern, keep your political attacks and accusations and smears private, and just STFU for a change.
